SKU HADL-2026-TUE-TEAM-REC
Price

$380.00

Hudson Athletics Dodgeball League (HADL) brings adults together for a fast, friendly night of recreational co-ed dodgeball at Hudson Sportsplex. Gather your team for foam-ball play, quick rounds and a season-ending playoff night.

Register your team

$380 covers one recreational team of 6-10 adults, ages 18 and older. The captain registers, enters the team name and their age, and selects quantity 1. This is team registration only. Beginners are welcome.

Tuesday schedule | 8:00-10:00 PM Central

Regular season: November 17; December 1, 8, 15 and 22, 2026; January 5, 2027. Playoffs: January 12, 2027. No games November 24 or December 29. Teams receive a specific match time within the evening window.

Season format

Six regular-season matches plus playoffs. Each team plays one match per regular-season night. Regular matches use 30-minute slots: two 12-minute running-clock halves, a 2-minute halftime, and 4 minutes for check-in and changeover. Teams switch ends at halftime. Game resets are included in the running clock. All teams qualify for playoffs; the bracket and playoff match lengths will be set to fit the January 12 session after registration closes.

Teams and substitutions

Play 6v6 co-ed. A six-player starting lineup includes at least 2 women. With 1 woman, a team may start with no more than 5 players; the minimum is 4 players, including at least 1 woman. These requirements apply at the start of each round, not after eliminations. Rotate rostered players between rounds; no tactical substitutions during a live round. An injured player may leave immediately. Every player and substitute must be on the roster and have completed the participation waiver.

Equipment and round start

Use six matching 7-inch coated-foam dodgeballs. No hard rubber balls. Indoor non-marking athletic shoes are required; remove jewelry. Start behind the back line. On the whistle, collect only your team's three designated balls at center and bring them behind the marked attack line before throwing. No contact or contested-ball wrestling.

Hits, catches and blocking

A live throw below the head eliminates a player. A ball is dead after touching the floor, wall, ceiling or another fixed object. A direct catch before the ball is dead eliminates the thrower and returns the first eligible teammate in the out queue. Re-enter through the back line before touching a ball. A ball may be used to block; dropping the blocking ball eliminates the blocker. For simple HADL house play, the thrown ball becomes dead on the first player hit or held-ball block; it cannot eliminate additional players or be caught for a return after that contact.

Headshots and safe play

Aim below the shoulders. A direct headshot against an upright player does not eliminate that player; the thrower is out for the rest of the round. If the player ducks or lowers their head into an otherwise legal throw, the official decides the outcome. Reckless or deliberate targeting can lead to removal from the match. No physical contact, kicking balls, or throwing at people already out. Stop immediately for an injury or unsafe floor condition.

Boundaries, retrieval and stalling

Crossing the center line or stepping outside the boundary during live play is an out. Bench players retrieve loose balls from the designated safe area and return them to teammates; active players remain in bounds. No throwing from outside the court. A player holding a ball must attempt a throw within 10 seconds. The official warns once, then calls the stalling player out for repeated violations. Only captains discuss rulings with the official.

Round scoring and match results

Each round lasts up to 3 minutes. Eliminating the other team wins the round immediately. At the round or half buzzer, resolve throws already in flight, then the team with more active players wins the round. Award 1 point for a round win, or 0.5 points each if equal. Reset promptly with all eligible players. The team with more round points wins the match; regular-season match ties stand. These fixed-time finishes are HADL house rules.

Standings and playoffs

Standings: 3 points for a match win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss. Break standings ties by head-to-head result, then round-point differential, then rounds won, then a draw. Playoffs are single elimination. A tied playoff match uses a 3v3 first-elimination tiebreaker: each side starts with 3 balls; catches eliminate the thrower but do not return a teammate. No blocking in the tiebreaker. The official resets simultaneous eliminations.

Arrival, conduct and forfeits

Arrive 15 minutes before your match and bring water. Players call their own hits honestly; the designated match official keeps time and settles disputes. After a 5-minute grace period, a team without a legal lineup forfeits the match. Abusive language, fighting, dangerous play or repeated dishonesty may result in ejection or league removal without refund.

Registration, refunds and location

Registration and full-refund withdrawal deadline: November 12, 2026. After that, spots are non-refundable but transferable. The league runs with at least 4 teams and is limited to 6 teams; if fewer than 4 teams register, a full refund will be offered. A facility-cancelled night will be made up or refunded pro rata. Every participant must sign a Hudson Sportsplex participation waiver before playing; contact info@hudsonsportsplex.com for waiver instructions. Location: 31W290 Schoger Dr, Naperville, IL 60564.
